What is the time limit to issue a GST invoice for services?

For services, a GST tax invoice must be issued within 30 days of the date the service is supplied (45 days for banks, NBFCs, and insurers). For goods, the invoice must be issued at or before the time of delivery or removal — don't wait until the payment comes in.

What's the difference between a tax invoice and a bill of supply?

A tax invoice is issued by a GST-registered seller on a taxable supply and shows GST charged as CGST/SGST or IGST. A bill of supply is issued instead when the supplier is under the composition scheme or the supply is exempt — no GST is charged and no tax line appears.
